Memorial benches and trees
If you would like to erect a memorial bench or plant a memorial tree we will be happy to advise and assist you.
Memorial benches
Adur District Council provides a service to the public of installing memorial seats on council owned land. This is restricted to parks, cemeteries and some open spaces. The type of bench is a Grafton 1800. This is in order to maintain continuity through out our parks and cemeteries. Unfortunately we are not able to supply benches for any other purpose or area. (The company we use is shown at the end of the memorial bench section).
Unfortunately we cannot undertake to maintain donated benches in perpetuity; however the tamper proof fixings which are used should help keep damage to a minimum.
If you would like to purchase a memorial bench we require the following information from you:
- Inscription details
- Where you wish the bench to be placed
- Full details of the person that will be paying for the seat
The whole process normally takes about three months.
Grafton Seat : The seat combines the quality and longevity of cast iron with a design applicable to contemporary environments, and to areas of more traditional architecture.

We use the following company to supply the benches :
- Streetmaster Products website : www.streetmaster.co.uk
- Streetmaster Products website : Grafton seat details (www.streetmaster.co.uk/content/products/seats_iron/seats_iron_wooden.htm)

Memorial trees
Trees can be bought from the council, the purchase of the tree includes all the planting costs.
Should the tree fail in the first year a replacement would be free of charge.
The species of tree is usually selected from our own lists and will be subject to availability.
For further information and current prices please contact the Parks Services Section.
