Waste and recycling

Useful hints and tips

  • AWS logoPlease have your blue box or wheelie bins out by 6:30am, as round times may change from week to week and we cannot guarantee what time our collectors will arrive.

  • Your blue box or wheelie bins must be placed safely at or as near to the kerbside as possible - to be clearly visible to the collectors. There are strict guidelines given to our collectors about what is an acceptable distance to collect boxes.

  • Do not place recyclables in black sacks as they will be collected as normal refuse.

  • Do not use plastic carrier bags for your recyclables.

  • All recyclable items should be placed together in your recyling blue box or wheelie bin.

  • Clean out all recyclable cans and bottles. Soiled items attract pests and will not be collected.

  • Remove any lids and caps from bottles.

  • Households that produce a lot of recyclable material may request additional blue boxes or a larger recycling wheelie bin please telephone (01273) 263133. For more information about the new wheeled bin service see : AWS website (www.aws.gov.uk/CollectionServices/Recycling)

  • If you have missed your collection you can either save your recyclable materials to the next collection or take them to your nearest mini recycling centre.

  • If items are left in your recycling box it is because we cannot recycle them through our scheme or because they are soiled. Wheeled bins will be tagged telling you of any probelms with what you have put in your recycling bin.
