Jamcams - webcams on main routes and motorways around the country
BBC
The BBC regional websites around the country (eg BBC Sussex) have links
to many webcams (or jamcams) that are located on motorways and some major
routes (A roads) within their area.
These will help you to gauge traffic and weather conditions if you are due to travel.
To see the webcams visit the BBC local webpage using the link below.
Then choose an area of the UK from their list or map that you are interested in.
Then, if there are webcam links available, on right hand side of their regional/local webpage under their 'travel news' section there will be a link to 'live travel cams' or 'jamcams' - these are webcams of main roads … (note : not all areas have them, but a lot do).

To see the webcams visit the Highways Agency Traffic England website using the link below.
Then select a 'motorway' from their pull down menu.
Then tick the 'traffic camera' box (and any other boxes you are interested in, eg speed).
Then click the 'search' button - you will then be given a diagrammatic view of the route you have chosen and the webcams that are available will be listed for you to click on.
