As from 1st April 2007 accommodation will only be featured on this page if it has been quality assessed by either Visit Britain (www.visitbritain.co.uk/accommodation/qas.aspx) or the AA (www.theaa.com/travel/accommodation_restaurants_grading.html). Quality logos are shown below for those that have currently been quality assessed. Please be aware that quality ratings may change.
Guest Accommodation encompasses a range of properties (including small bed and breakfasts, guest accommodation, guest houses and farm houses) and have previously been awarded a 'diamond' rating. From 2006 the assessment scheme has been revised to meet the higher expectations of consumers with regards to quality and facilities.
Accommodation is now awarded one to five stars to reflect the overall quality of the experience (including comfort; the range and quality of facilities and food; welcome and service; and most importantly the cleanliness). Places that 'go the extra mile' to make your stay a special one, may achieve a Gold or Silver award.
Some entries on this site have diamond ratings and some have stars, as not all properties have had a new assessment to date. The stars reflect a higher standard and are more difficult to achieve, so any comparison with previous ratings does not necessarily mean that an establishment's quality standards have dropped.

This purpose built hostel sits high on the South Downs. With its own pleasant open garden it is well away from busy roads.
