Equalities Policy and Three Year Equalities Scheme
Equalities Policy
Adur District Council is committed to providing equality of opportunity in all our activities and to ensuring that discrimination does not occur. We will strive for a workforce that reflects the diversity of the local community in order that our services are provided appropriately and the council benefits from a wealth of experiences. Adur District Council will involve the wider community in our decision-making processes and use our influence to progress equality issues in the Adur District.
In 2004/05 :
- 2.00% of our workforce is made up of people who are registered disabled (BVPI 16a) (average nationally 2.7% nationally 2002/03) and
- 0.6% of our workforce is made up of people from minority ethnic communities
(BVPI 17a) (average nationally 4% 2002/03).
(Both of which are a fair representation of the working population in Adur). - 20% of top 5% of earners in the Council are women (BVPI 11a)
(average nationally 26% 2002/03).

Three Year Equalities Scheme
(incorporating the Race Equality Scheme and the Disability
Equality Scheme)
Adur District Council will progress equalities issues mainly through a three year equalities scheme which is monitored by the Human Resources Working Group. The Race Equality Scheme is a sub section of the Annual Equalities Action Plan.
