Get Waves Ahead in Adur and Worthing

Ref : 10/009 : Date : 15-01-2010

Waves Ahead logoPeople in Adur and Worthing are invited to have their say in a new sustainable community strategy called Waves Ahead. This plan will influence the services councils and other partners provide for the next 20 years.

Adur in Partnership and Worthing Together are the partnerships working on the Waves Ahead plan. These two partnerships consist of Adur and Worthing councils, West Sussex County Council, the police, West Sussex Primary Care Trust, businesses and voluntary organisations.

Council officers, councillors and others preparing the plan are urging Adur and Worthing residents to tell them what they feel is most important to them, what they like about where they live and what improvements they would like to see.

These are some of the issues already highlighted as important:

  • Support for families
  • Adults and young people increasing their physical activity
  • Having a healthy workplace
  • Increasing skills, training and apprenticeships
  • Helping businesses to start up
  • Supporting volunteering
  • Balancing the need for development against the need to protect the natural environment.

Adur Cabinet member for health, safety and wellbeing, David Simmons said: “This plan, reflecting community views, is going to identify what services are needed for the people of Adur and Worthing for many years ahead, so it is vital we get as many people as possible to tell us what they think is important to them where they live.”

Worthing Cabinet member for health, safety and wellbeing, Kevin Skepper said: “We want to make sure the Adur and Worthing of tomorrow is even better for all our residents and their children and we need to make sure we provide the right services to do this.”

Please complete the Waves Ahead Consultation online questionnaire (and is also available on www.adurinpartnership.org or www.worthingtogether.org), questionnaires are also available in public buildings throughout Adur And Worthing until 12 February 2010.
