Joint Adur and Worthing Dial-a-Ride may be on the cards
Ref : 09/096 : Date : 16-11-2009
A single Adur and Worthing Dial-a-Ride service running between Fishersgate to Ferring could be the answer to providing better and more accessible community transport.
Adur Community Transport and Worthing Council for Voluntary Service, who run both Dial-a-Rides, are looking at the logistics of providing one service with the help the Community Transport Association.
The findings of the study will be presented at a meeting of both cabinets on 9 February 2010. While the study is being a prepared Adur’s cabinet is being recommended to continue to provide £2,000 a month to Adur’s Dial-a-Ride until March 2010.
An important part of the feasibility study will be to investigate the current service and this will mean talking to the users of both Dial-a-Ride services.
Executive head of planning, regeneration and wellbeing, James Appleton said: “We are pleased to see the two voluntary organisations working together on this project, which can only be good news for their customers. Both councils are committed to supporting this feasibility study and look forward to seeing the report.”
