From Arkansas to Adur
Ref : 08/064 : Date : 29-07-2008
A group of 20 girl guides from Arkansas and Oklahoma will be welcomed to
Adur by council chairman Brian Coomber this week (30/7/08).
The girls, who visit Adur every four years, will be joining thousands of other girl guides and scouts at the International scout and guide camp in Ardingly in August. The camps started in 1980 and take place every three years.
While they are here the girls live with local families as part of the exchange, giving them a taste of British life. Adur girl guides also get to visit Arkansas and stay with local families.
Brian said: “What a great idea and opportunity for all these young people to meet each other and get a taste for our different cultures.”
