Girls love the beautiful game
Ref : 06/101 : Date : 24-10-2006
Playing
football for a bit of fun has led to a group of girls playing the beautiful
game for Adur Athletic football club and competing in the Sussex girls league.
A partnership between Adur Council and the football club has proved such a success at encouraging girls to play football the council has donated equipment to help with training.
Adur Council's community and wellbeing officer for sport Tammy Waine, said: "We had an amazing response to the open training sessions in Buckingham Park, over 50 girls aged between 6 - 13 turned up wanting to play. The girls are really enjoying their football and going from strength to strength."
The girls went on to form teams and represent Adur at the Sussex Youth games in Eastbourne this summer. The girls played well and enjoyed themselves and have now gone on to play for Adur Athletic football club.
