Leisure development
(including arts development and sports development)
The Leisure Development section works with the local community to provide an integrated leisure provision to encourage people to enjoy, participate and develop their abilities in both the Arts and Sport.
The Council's Leisure Development Team encourage development in and promote sports and arts opportunities in the community by working with many local clubs, organisations and individuals.
Leisure Development's key areas of responsibility include :
- Working with the local community to provide an integrated leisure provision
- Ensuring that structures are in place to enable participation at all levels
- Promoting local leisure opportunities
- Supporting and advising local arts and sport groups and organisations in their development
- Encouraging people to enjoy and participate in both the Arts and Sport
- Encouraging individuals to develop their abilities in both the Arts and Sport
- Ensuring that leisure opportunities are accessible to all
- Encouraging people to adopt a healthy lifestyle
