BMX and skateboarding

If you are a keen skateboarder or BMX rider than Adur is the place to come and enjoy your hobby.

The council has recently completed work on several projects to build and renew skateparks and bike tracks.

Sompting Skatepark, Hamble Recreation Ground

ESL (Every Skater Lives) logoSompting has a new skatepark, at Hamble recreation ground, proving to be very popular with youngsters.

BMX bikers now have a choice of tracks throughout the whole district.

A new track at Fishersgate Recreation ground, the popular Adur Recreation ground has had a makeover with new jumps.

Other parks in the area have had repairs done to their much used tracks

All of the projects have involved young people from the start, their ideas have been used to make sure the youngsters get what they want.

Southwick Skatepark, Southwick Recreation Ground

A new BMX/Skate area is being installed in Southwick Recreation Ground by Gravity Engineering Ltd. It is due to open on Thursday 6th September 2007 at 4pm. The exact time and date will depend on the weather and we will update this page nearer the time with the official opening event news/date.

Over forty local youngsters worked with Clive Bramble, Group Manager Adur Watch and Parks Services, to produce the design that most meets their needs. It is being constructed out of concrete to give the best smooth user surface, whilst still being strong, long lasting and quiet.

The old warn out previous site will be left for the summer holidays and then it's removal begins Monday 10th September 2007 as part of the indoor bowls centre improvements.
