Elections in Adur and Worthing

Adur District councillors are elected for four-year terms by halves; that is, at each election, half of the councillors (or as near as possible) are elected. Elections are held every two years except in the year when the county council election is held.

Worthing Borough councillors are elected for four-year terms by thirds; that is, at each election, a third of the councillors (or as near as possible) are elected. Elections are held every year except in the year when the county council election is held.

West Sussex County councillors are elected once every four years, in whole council elections.

In Adur, Lancing Parish and Sompting Parish councillors are elected once every four years in whole council elections.

Members of the United Kingdom Parliament will be elected once every five years from 2015. Worthing Borough Council is responsible for elections in the Worthing West constituency.  Adur District Council is responsible for elections in the East Worthing and Shoreham constituency.

Members of the European Parliament are elected once every five years. Both Adur and Worthing are within the South East region for these elections.

Vote - put your cross in the boxA by-election may be held at any time if a casual vacancy occurs, due for example to the resignation of an elected member.
