If you could decide how to spend £100,000 to improve your neighbourhood, town or village or something that would help local people what ideas would you come up with?
A £100,000 pot of money is ready and waiting to be spent on the best ideas put forward by Adur community groups, charities, voluntary organisations or residents associations. Adur residents can also put forward ideas to improve the district. The council wants to turn the great ideas of local people into reality.
This initiative will involve local people and benefit Adur’s communities. People know their own areas and what is needed.
Successful projects could receive up to a maximum of £30,000.
Deadline : On-line voting closed on Friday 15th January 2010
Spending the money
The money has to be spent on improving community facilities, improving the appearance of the district and equipment.
Who can bid for money
Any Adur registered charity, community group, residents association or voluntary organisation can bid for the money.
Residents can also put forward ideas for projects that they would like the council to carry out on their behalf.
A few examples of ideas :
- Youth shelter
- Improvements to shopping parade
- Makeover for a community building
- Public art
- Equipment
- A vehicle (for a charity for example)
- Children's special play equipment
- Adult outdoor gym equipment
- New benches
- Sports equipment
- The list is endless and is up to you ...
Who will decide and how
Step one :
All bids for projects will require a written application. All the bids will go before a panel made up from a cross party group of local councillors and the chairman of Adur in Partnership. This group will shortlist the bids.
Step two :
At the ‘Pot of Gold’ community engagement event those shortlisted will present their bids to an audience made up of members of the public drawn from the Adur Viewpoint residents’ panel and the Adur cabinet. People will also be able to vote on-line.
The cabinet will ask questions and give their views then it is up to the audience to decide on their favourite projects.
Step three :
All recommendations will go before a Full Council, who will cast the deciding vote.
Step four :
The winning ideas will be put into action and enjoyed by the people of Adur.
It’s up to you - you decide...
