Area Investment Framework (AIF) -
Brighton & Hove and Adur

An Introduction

In June 2003, work commenced on the development of an Area Investment Framework for the Brighton & Hove and Adur area.

The Area Investment Framework (AIF) is being developed at the request of the South East of England Development Agency (SEEDA) who will be using AIF's to channel future regeneration funding into the priority regeneration areas in the South East region, of which Brighton & Hove and Adur is one.

Previously, SEEDA has funded local regeneration programmes through the Single Regeneration Budget (SRB). However, the SRB as a funding programme has been withdrawn and the final expenditure within Brighton & Hove's SRB programme will cease in March 2006. In Adur, it ceased in March 2004.The development of an AIF is therefore crucial to accessing future regeneration funding for our area.

Project Management

Officers from both Brighton & Hove City Council and Adur District Council, together with colleagues from West Sussex County Council formed an AIF Project Team that established the AIF during 2004. This work was funded by SEEDA and the Single Regeneration Budget.

From October 2004 the AIF Project Board was established. This board consists of elected Members of both councils, key figures from the Local Strategic Partnerships, Economic Partnerships and Regeneration Partnerships in both areas, together with representatives from the voluntary and community sector and other key public sector organisations.
